Hi Harbs,

Thanks. You were right. I
changed the character styles within the definition of the variables but I
didn't check if they were correctly applied in the frame. So I manually applied
the styles again and voila.

I definitely like this
plugin in! It’s powerful – like its name ;-).

Hi Jeldrik,

Hmm. That's definitely not the way it should be working!

Maybe there's some gremlins from when you were setting up the headers.

Here's two things to try:

1) Select "Remove Overrides on Header Frames" and run again.

2) If the above doesn't work, the character styles applied to the variables in the header frame are probably incorrect. Try reinserting the header variables or manually applying the character style you used for each one.

HTH,

Harbs

Hi Harbs,
Thanks for
your response, but the problem must be something else. Here are some screenshot
of the issue:

The line
above should be the result. But
after updating I get this:

And here
are the settings of the three variables I created:

Can you see
the thing I’m missing?

Best

Hi Jeldrik,

My guess is that you used a single character style for all three variables.

Power Headers is a bit peculiar in that each variable must have a separate character style. This enables variables to interact in some interesting ways. One example of this interaction is explained on page 27 in the manual (in the second bullet item). To ensure that your second variable does not overwrite your first one, you must use a separate style for each variable.

HTH,

Harbs

I’m experimenting
with power headers in CS5.5. And I don’t know if it is me or a bug (I assume it’s
me but …) Following issue:

I want to
create a running header like this: “Part AA | Chapter XX | Section YY” (I take only the automatic numbering). After
creating and inserting the variables I updated the document and something wired
happens. I get “Part AA | Chapter AA | Section AA” so 3 times the variable ‘Part’.
What is wrong?

I would be
glad if someone could help – I could send the InDesign-Document, maybe the
mistake is hiding somewhere else.

Thanks Jeldrik
