Hi all,

I am trying to find a way to load all text styles (para and chara) WITHOUT the root folder

OR

replacing the root folder and its contents with another.

The root folder names are different – they HAVE to be different as the files contain product and are of differnt sizes and categories.

THe styling INSIDE the root folder all have the sames naming. SO the styles can overwrite when i need them to. the different naming of the root folder stops files overwiring the style when it shouldn't be and differntitates the product groups.

for eample in a doucment all styling sits inside a root folder called 'Standard'.

I need to load all text styles from another file where all the syling sits in a root folder called 'Hero' overwrite the 'standard' styling.

or better yet load and REPLACE the standard folder with the Hero folder. ALL sltyling inside the root folder have the same naming so will overwrite.

even if i create a document with the styles floating, when loaded it will load outside the exs root. i cant load styles into a folder

I would appreciate any help :)

Thanks.

ACTUALLY, i could just replace a folder with another folder then that would solve it.

ie: root folder called: 'HERO' with paragraph styles.

load all txt styles, folder called 'STANDARD' with paragraph styles named and ordered exacly the same as the HERO set.

delete the hero set and replace all with the standard. BEcuase it will be a regular thing selecting each style to replace what one by one is not a fix. it should overwrite as it is named and ordered exactly the same except for the root folder name.

any ideas?

Thanks.

Something like this can be done via a script. Basically, you loop though all the style groups from the top group down and get the corresponding style in the other document. You then just copy the properties from one to the other.
