This is what I posted in the Drop Words /products/plugins/drop-words/#comment-1057

So here I am.

1) I don't understand exactly what you meant (excuse me for the ignorance, ahem, I don't know what Style Utilities is).

2) A sample of two lines drop: (sorry, I somehow can't insert an image here, so please see it on Flickr.)

3) But I do need a style for the dropped word and if I change the size of a paragraph, the drop doesn't change as well (as with the original InDesign Drop Caps). This means that I have to create a new style for each drop caps I need.

4) Try as I might, I could not seem to change the text, if I try to select it, the whole word gets selected. If I make Backspace or Delete, I get the same consequences - the whole Drop Word gets deleted.

5) I don't want to run the Drop Words on all paragraphs once I'm done the layout, I want to work on and see each page separately and make sure every thing's perfect before I go along to the next page. This makes me the need to run it on almost every paragraph separately.

Thanks in advance!!

1) http://in-tools.com/products/p.....utilities/

2) I see what you mean. I have seen publications like that, but most right align the paragraph when there are three lines. We don't currently have a solution for that.

3) Sorry. You are right. If you have different point sizes, you'll need different styles...

4) You can't select it using the keyboard because it's an inline object. You need to select it using the mouse.

5) The way I use it is to run it before finalizing the layout. If you adjust things afterwards, it will resize to fit. I don't understand why you need to do each page separately.

Just to  add a little to the discussion:

2) Indent to Here character is perfect for these situations. There is no need to have a drop cap at all.

3) This has truly been a bane to anyone typesetting siddurim etc where point sizes are changed often. I have gone so far as to create 20 paragraph styles and arranged the in style groups for all possible point sizes. Add to that the fact that you need to create another twenty for drop caps makes it all the more difficult.

5) Often the drop cap will add a line. Some people find it easier to layout as they go along in siddurim/machzorim where a lot of manual work is necessary to typefit things to the page. You should consider trying Drop Words2 which uses InDesign's native drop cap to achieve the drop word effect.

Hmm. Inside tables is something not really tested, so I would not be surprised if it doesn't work correctly.

Good luck!
